INTRODUCING IAN TUCKER

WOOLAVINGTON BY- ELECTION 30th September 2010

Dear Voter,

I wish to introduce myself as the Labour party candidate for the forthcoming Sedgemoor District

Council  by-election.

Before moving to Bridgwater   I lived in Chilton Polden for  27 years and have continued to

maintain an attachment and interest in the  everyday life of the Polden  communities, which is

why I was selected for the  Woolavington seat. If elected I   will make the following promises :-

  • I will, to the best of my ability, continue the good work that was being done by

your previous Labour councillor Roger Lavers.

  • I will be a pro active councillor making myself easily accessible to all.

  •    By keeping in close contact with the Parish Council and utilising information

centres such as the Polden Post, I will keep everyone informed of any

important issues particularly those that could affect the village.

  • Tory/Lib Dem cuts will soon be biting and communities such as Woolavington

will be targeted and therefore need the strongest possible voices in their

    support.

I promise the people of Woolavington that I will be

    that  voice.

Whilst some people in Woolavington will remember me as their school bus driver I

am also active in many local campaigns that benefit ordinary working people and

families. This included the fight to keep the Splash after the Conservative led

Sedgemoor District Council, without proper consultation, reneged on their promise

to make every effort to keep it open until a new pool could be built. I believe there

were ways it could have been saved and I therefore protested frequently to both

the Council and our MP about its demolition. I also joined the action group

Bridgwater Forward who like the Labour group are still campaigning for town

centre swimming and not the building of yet another supermarket.

We now desperately need a council that listens to the people, consults and acts

fairly.

TO BE A PART IN THE FORMING OF A

MUCH BETTER DEMOCRATIC DISTRICT COUNCIL
