WOOLAVINGTON ELECTION RESULTS 1973-2007

Woolavington has returned a Labour councillor to Sedgemoor District Council since 1991 when Christine Lavers took the seat from the LibDems after years of alternating Tory/Lib Dem occupancy. Christine held the seat at 4 elections in total before standing down in 1997 when her husband Roger Lavers retained it for Labour with an 18 vote majority.

Sedgemoor District Council consists of 50 Councillors and is currently massively dominated by the Conservatives who have 36 councillors to Labours 11 and the Lib Dems 3.

Labour candidate Ian Tucker said "Winning in Woolavington is crucial to an effective opposition on Sedgemoor wheras to the Tories it barely even affects their majority. "
